• Procare LTC Pharmacy has established a medication ordering process dedicated specifically for IV medication orders.
• This ordering process allows Procare LTC Pharmacy to best utilize our custom designed “state of the art” clean room and IV preparation system.

Basic Infusion Therapy Class (7 contact hours) This is an 8 hour full day presentation which includes a lecture, instructor demonstration and *return demonstration of a central line dressing change. This is a comprehensive class for licensed nurses who have not previously attended an IV Therapy Training Program, are unable to provide documentation of attending a program, or those who would like a more in depth review.

The following topics are covered in this presentation:
• Anatomy & Physiology
• Regulatory Guidelines
• Legal Issues
• Device Selection
• Review of Venous Access Devices including appropriate care and maintenance
• Potential Complications and Interventions  Hypodermoclysis  Infection Prevention Documentation
• Electronic Infusion Pump set up and programming *Please note that return demonstration does not indicate Licensed Nurse is competent to perform procedure.
This is a 4 hour presentation which includes both a lecture and instructor demonstration of a central line dressing change. This review class is for licensed nurses who have previously attended a basic infusion therapy class. Please refer to your specific State guidelines as many states require an annual review of infusion therapy.

The following topics are covered in this presentation:
• Review of Venous Access Devices including care and maintenance.
• Device Selection.
• Potential Complications and Interventions.
• Infection Prevention  Documentation.
This is a 5 hour presentation which includes a lecture, instructor demonstration and allows for *return demonstration of selected IV skills.

The following topics are covered in this presentation:
• PIV insertion (return demo).
• Central Line Blood Collection (return demo).
• Implanted Venous Port Accessing/De-Accessing (return demo).
• Clearing Catheter Occlusions-Declotting CVADs (no return demo). • Removal of a PICC/Midline (no return demo).
(no contact hours awarded). Please note these inservices are for individual facilities and are not group classes. Information available upon request.

The following topics are covered in this presentation:
• Peripheral IV Insertion, Care and Maintenance (1-2 hours).
• This inservice includes a lecture, instructor demonstration and *return demonstration of short peripheral IV insertion.
• Care and maintenance are also discussed. (Maximum # of attendees not to exceed 10).
• *Please note that return demonstration does not indicate Licensed Nurse is competent to perform procedure. • *Classes including a return demonstration will be limited in size to allow each nurse adequate time with instructor.
